Podcast explores the trajectories of African and Afro-Brazilian peoples

A project from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) has been engaging in discussions about the trajectories of African and Afro-Brazilian peoples. This initiative is carried out through the Pibid História podcast, created by scholarship recipients of the Institutional Scholarship Program for Teaching (Pibid) in schools of the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. The project aims to enhance the professional development of History students. Dr. Maria Emília Vasconcelos, a professor specializing in Afro-Brazilian History and Culture, is the visionary behind this initiative.

Eight episodes of the podcast, available in Portuguese, have already been released on Spotify. They are organized around themes from the 19th century and the First Brazilian Republic, with a notable episode focusing on Queen Jinga (Ngola Nzinga) of the Ndongo and Matamba kingdoms in Africa.

This initiative is a noteworthy example of incorporating historical research into the classroom and fostering critical thinking while actively engaging students in the learning process.
